Key Assets is part of a global organization, changing the lives of children everywhere. In Canada, our non-profit offices are in Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia. Within Ontario, our head office is in Mississauga. Collectively, our dynamic organization provides various support services to young people and families with complex needs. This includes foster family placements, family-based care, residential care, therapeutic support, clinical services, and community training.

 

We are currently hiring for our office in Mississauga, Ontario for the position of: Placement Worker

 

The Placement Worker has primary responsibility for the referrals and placements of new children into family-based homes, respite placements and legislated documentation associated with children being referred to Key Assets for placement.

 

Some of the core duties of this role will include the following:

  • Ensure the placement of children with foster carers in accordance with Fostering Regulations through MCCSS, CYFSA and with Key Assets Policies and Procedures
  • Support placement growth in line with Key Assets Strategic Plan
  • Action referrals for children and young people from Local Children’s Aid Societies & Community referrals
  • Identify and match potential vacancies including the use of up to date carer profiles
  • Identify potential carers through the matching process & liaise with Foster Support Workers/Managers and Local Children’s Aid Societies
  • Develop, support and maintain relationships with Key Assets foster carers
  • Support and maintain business relationships with Local Children’s Aid Societies
  • Working knowledge and understanding of contracts and financial agreements prior to placement.
  • Manage and co-ordinate respite requests, ensuring respite requests are supported and matched to available carers and/or support people.
  • Ensure respite is tracked within the database and that carers are compensated accurately for any respite care they provide
  • Provide weekly carer vacancy lists to all CAS’ to promote carer availability and placement matching
  • Completion of placement related documentation in legislated time frames
  • Assist in the delivery of core training for Foster Carers
  • Participate in the After Hours On-Call system
  • Support emergency placement admissions and pre-placement visits

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, the candidate is required to have:

  • Child and Youth Worker Diploma or Degree or Equivalent education and experience and 3 years’ full-time experience in group care, foster care or child welfare.
  • Registration with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care or equivalent
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services (CYFSA & MCCSS) Licensing standards, as well as publications which inform current thinking regarding best practice and the safe caring of children
  • A comprehensive knowledge of all policies and procedures in relation to Duty to Report and Safeguarding children
  • A proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to multitask
  • Must have or ability to obtain valid First Aid, CPR and current certification in an approved Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program
  • A valid G Class license with a clean driving record and daily access to a safe/reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2-Million liability insurance
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Police Screening and Child Welfare Screening
